Coloured paper
Following on from a very informative lecture on Paper (Craig Horsfall) I further researched the subject and in particular with regard to coloured paper. I also visited the Courtauld exhibition on the subject of artists who have used blue paper. I wanted to experiment with this to link with the blue scarring on miners who worked underground. This had also been documented in the film “Blue Scar” (1949). I have printed on coloured paper and also on card which has been treated with blue pastels.
I will experiment with this further on both wood and metal surfaces.
Both Albrecht Durer and Jacopo Tintoretto used blue paper in a very evocative way where it heightens the subtle chiaroscuro and the sense of space and light in the movement of the figures.
